v0.1 — Draft — 2026-09-16
Initial draft: the Service Record, five-action surface, booking states, L1–L4 levels, evidence freshness, suspension, capability seed, extension mechanism, identity and attestations, discovery, and reference schema.
Status: open for public comment. Publication release: 0.1.0-draft.1. Wire-format identifier: schema_version: "0.1".
Draft corrections
The publication incorporates these corrections to the supplied proposal:
- Publisher spelling and links use Hottub, Inc. and https://joinhottub.com.
- The specification stays verifier-neutral. The planned program issuer and key location use verifiedserviceschema.org; all three properties disclose common ownership.
- URLs allow absolute HTTPS URI templates. Namespaced actions are validated using the same descriptor contract.
- Coverage areas are strings in v0.1; GeoJSON is deferred until its schema and semantics are specified.
- Every check requires an expiry. Never-verified records can use
last_verified_at: null. L4 requires completion and dispute rates. - Credential examples now observe the 90-day maximum. Attestation examples expire no later than their supporting liveness evidence.
- L1 templates include all five required capability actions. Abbreviated excerpts and L3-shaped examples do not claim actual conformance.
- Extension versions use full semver. Release versions and the draft wire identifier are distinguished.
- Sponsored placement is explicitly represented. Only independently verified outcome data may affect completion-based ranking; reporting a number is insufficient.
- Planned APIs, extensions, signing keys, reference implementations, and prices are labeled honestly. Samples are fixed historical illustrations.
The draft has not been declared stable. These edits do not imply that a complete conformance program has launched.
Stability rules
Drafts may change before the first stable release. From v1.0.0, changes within a major version are additive. Breaking versions require at least 12 months of overlap with the previous stable major. Consumers must ignore unknown fields. Published taxonomy paths are not renamed; extensions version independently.
Governance
Hottub, Inc. maintains the draft, release process, reference schemas, and extension designation process. Anyone may implement the specification without a fee or a commercial relationship, including competing verifiers and indexes.
The specification, verification program, and index have distinct purposes and common ownership. Third-party governance or organizational independence is not claimed. Official extension status is intended to depend on public conformance evidence, not payment.
